Your questions about poker nights, the restaurant, and venue rules
Whether you are joining your first Texas Hold'em tournament or booking a relaxed social dinner with a few hands of offline poker, these answers cover the essentials. For anything more specific, you can always reach out via our Contact Us page.
What is offline poker?
Offline poker means playing in person at a real card table with physical cards and chips, surrounded by a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. At Kingsand Hearth it is all about shared conversation, reading the room, and enjoying the game with others. There is no digital or online poker here.
Do I need poker experience?
You do not need any experience to take a seat. Our poker nights welcome curious first-timers, social players, and seasoned regulars alike. If you are new to the game, our team can walk you through the basics, explain how tournament chips are used, and help you feel comfortable before the first hand is dealt.
What is Texas Hold’em?
Texas Hold’em is a popular style of poker played at Kingsand Hearth. Each player receives two personal cards, and five shared community cards are placed on the table in stages. You create your best five-card hand from any combination of your two cards and the five community cards. It is easy to learn and ideal for both casual nights and structured tournaments.
What is a buy-in?
A buy-in is what each player contributes to receive tournament chips at the start of a poker event. At Kingsand Hearth this relates to how many chips you begin with and the structure of the tournament. All buy-in details and chip stacks are clearly explained when you register, without reference to money or financial outcomes.
Are poker nights held in the restaurant?
Yes. Our poker card room is designed alongside the restaurant so you can enjoy both great food and offline poker in one place. Some tables are set for dedicated play, while nearby spaces keep a warm restaurant feel with comfortable seating, soft lighting, and room for conversation between hands.
Are food and drinks available during poker nights?
Absolutely. The full restaurant menu, from starters and shared plates through to desserts, is available throughout poker nights. There are also poker-night specials and a mix of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. You can order to your table in the card room or enjoy a break in the restaurant between rounds.
Do I need to reserve a poker table?
Reserving a seat in advance is strongly recommended, especially for structured Texas Hold’em tournaments, deep stack formats, and high roller-style experiences. Walk-ins may be possible on quieter nights, but seating is always subject to table availability and venue rules.
To request a seat, you can explore upcoming events and use the registration options on the Events page, or reach out directly via Contact Us.
What should I bring?
For poker nights, bring a valid ID to confirm you are 18 or over, along with anything you need to feel comfortable for the evening, such as glasses or a light jacket. You do not need to bring cards or chips—all tournament tables, cards, and tournament chips are provided in the card room.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. All offline poker, including Texas Hold’em tournaments and high roller-style tables, is strictly for guests aged 18 and over. We follow Australian responsible-play expectations and may request valid photo ID before seating you at a table. The restaurant may welcome a broader range of guests in line with local regulations, but poker areas remain 18+ only.
If you have any questions about age requirements or responsible play, please review our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, or contact the team directly.
Where is the venue located?
Kingsand Hearth is located in a central Australian city, with an emphasis on easy access for local diners and the wider poker community. As details may change, please visit the Contact Us page for the latest address, opening hours, poker-night schedule, and map information before you travel.
How can I contact the card room?
For questions about tournament tables, buy-in structures, private poker nights, or group bookings, please use the details on our Contact Us page. You will find editable fields for phone, email, and a quick enquiry form so you can get in touch in the way that suits you best.
Are tournament rules available before registration?
Yes. Core tournament rules, table etiquette, and venue policies are made available before you register for any event. These cover topics such as seat allocation, blind structure, use of tournament chips, late entry, and responsible-play expectations.
You are encouraged to read these details carefully and ask any questions before you take your seat. For more information, speak with the host on arrival or reach out ahead of time via the Contact Us page.

Kingsand Hearth supports mindful, social poker. If at any point you feel that poker is becoming less enjoyable, we encourage you to take a break, speak with a member of the team, or step away from the tables. Poker here is about conversation, community, and shared nights out—never pressure.
